I recommend using Hostgator to register domain names, mainly as I host all my sites with them, so it makes things easy and there is no need to change nameservers as you would if registering with another registrar. Registering a domain name through HostGator is a simple process. You can enter the domain name you want to register then the HostGator registration system will let the you know if that domain name is still available. If it's not, alternatives extensions will be suggested.
